The three volumes in this series are all based on the principles of observational learning, an important component of human learning. Being able to observe working interpreters allows students or working interpreters to discuss equivalence, ethics, and situational dynamics in an objective manner at no risk to the observer.

Each set includes a book and DVD. The book explains the various uses of the DVD and the importance of observational learning while the DVD contains interpreted conversations, each in a setting that normally does not allow observation.

The scenarios stand apart from other interpreter training materials because they were not scripted and portray naturally occurring language. The interpreters did not rehearse their interpretations. All of the interpreters learned ASL as adults.

Working interpreters can benefit from The Interpreting in Professional Settings Series to sharpen their skills and earn CEUs. Teachers will welcome these examples to discuss with their students.
